I’m ashamed.

April 29, 2005 at 4:52 pm (Personal, Reviews)

I just watched Spinning Gasing and I’m ashamed. I really ashamed. (Yes, I’m so ashamed that I can’t even get my grammer right).

That was the lamest piece of film, and it’s so full of lameness that I really can’t find any redeeming qualities in it. Honestly… There are just too many cliches and things that make me ashamed to admit that the idea was thought of by a Malaysian.

And people wonder why I don’t watch Malaysian Film. (For those who are wondering, I have *not* watched Sepet yet. Have had no opportunity yet to watch it, stupid parents -_-).

And I am reserving my judgements on that.

Recipe for Sweet Mushrooms and Potatoes

April 27, 2005 at 9:54 am (Personal, Recipes)

Someone try this out and tell me it wasn’t a fluke:

About half a large bowl of baby potatoes (scrubbed)
One egg white
About a handful and a half of sliced mushrooms, preferably button (not sure if the other works)
Salt, pepper (if you must) and honey to taste
Olive oil
3 small garlic (too big and it spoils it)

Mince the garlic to the smallest possible size without actually beating them into a pulp. Put in a small bowl.

Pour enough olive oil over the garlic just so it has a smooth surface. Set aside.

Wash mushrooms if needed, and squeeze out as much water as possible. One that is done, throw them into the bowl.

Crack an egg, but don’t open it completely. Let the egg white fall over the mixture.

Get a fork and start whipping everything together. Do this until there is a smooth consistency and everything seems to have blended well.

Add pinch of salt and about half a teaspoon of honey and keep whipping. When it’s done, put it aside.

Take the honey and drizzle over the potatoes in the bowl. You may now lick the spoon.

Pour mixture over potatoes and mix well. Cover with cling film and put it in the microwave on HIGH for about six minutes. Be sure to leave a small hole for air to escape. Stir from time to time.

Get a large skillet, and wait for the popping sounds. Once you hear two pops, stop the microwave, take out the bowl, and leave to cool for a few minutes.

Heat up the skillet, but DON’T put anything inside.

Pour mushroom and potatoes into skillet. Let it simmer for a while. Pour a small (and I mean small! The base of the cup should be smaller than your palm) cup of water and close the lid. Lower the fire to mid-small.

When the water is boiling, lift cover, allow the steam to escape, and then hit it on high for thirty to 45 seconds, no longer. Make sure that there’s space for the moisture to escape, we don’t want them in the mixture.

Once you hear sizzling, lower the fire to low, and stir a little. Poke potatoes with fork to ensure that it’s cooked (they should be soft). Simmer till water evaporates.

Take out and serve.

If it’s done right, the potatoes should be just right and the mushrooms should be juicy, sweet and a little toasted.

Enjoy! :)

Something interesting

April 26, 2005 at 11:54 am (Humour, Links, Memes, Personal)

Your Rising Sign is Aquarius

You are an interesting mix of introspective and outlandish.

Waving your freak flag high, you really do things your own way.

While you may seem distant, you care very deeply for humanity.

You just have no tolerance for fools, slackers, or dullards.

And while you’re fairly misanthropic, many are drawn to you.

Innovative and clever, people look to you for new ideas and trends.

What is Your Rising Sign?

Seriously…

April 25, 2005 at 1:06 pm (Personal, Ramblings, Rants-Angsty, Religion/Politics)

Someone needs to explain to me just what is going on. One minute I’m on top of the world, the next, there’s a heaviness in me that makes me want to scream.

I don’t know what’s going on. I’m not even going to try and pretend that I have the faintest inkling. What I will admit is that I don’t know. And for the One this is directed to, You know this is serious. What *exactly* is it that You want me to do? What do You want me to carry out?

Is this a revelation? Is this the path You want me to take? I’m going to come straight out and ask then “WHERE IS THIS TAKING ME?”

Honestly, half the time I don’t even know You. You string me along, and I like the ride. But (there’s always a BUT, and we BOTH know that) I want to know where I’m going and why. I’m sorry if I seem so demanding today, but for a more open relationship (well, You did hit me over the head with that Warren piece You know) THIS is the only way I know how.

Bitterness is a fruit I can’t let go.

Amusement

April 24, 2005 at 7:48 pm (Personal, Religion/Politics)

I was quite amused and at the same time, embarrassed by the antics of the so-called “Elected Representatives” in relation to the news report by the NST recently. Coming from a mass communications background and studying to be a journalist, I honestly agree that what the NST has done is fair comment. In fact, I would say that it is overdue fair comment.

It is a sad truth that our MPs are irrelevant. Discussing clothes in Parliament, when they should be talking about the issues facing us today? Not to mention their (and I do believe that they are responsible) belief that most social ills in the country can be blamed on the teenagers. That’s something I would like to change.

As a young adult who hits her majority this year, along with everyone else born in 1984, I would like to inherit a country with less imbeciles running it. Unfortunately, it seems like a pipe dream.

BTW, could someone *please* kick Toyol out of office? He’s done more to damage Selangor more than any other, and I think the only reason why we’re still here is despite him and not because of him.

*Annoyed*
